BJP doing politics on Covid deaths: AAP

Monday, 25 May 2020 | Chandan Prakash | NEW DELHI

Aam Aadmi Party national spokesperson and MLA Raghav Chadha accused the BJP of playing politics with the number of deaths in Delhi due to Covid-19 even after the Delhi High Court upheld the accuracy and sanctity of death figures published by the Delhi Government.

Referring High Court judgment, Raghav said that the court has concluded that there is no arbitrariness, discrimination or fabrication of data.

Hitting out at the BJP, Chadha demanded an apology from the party for indulging in baseless, motivated and malicious campaign. "The Delhi High Court after hearing both the sides have come up with a significant order saying that these allegations against the accuracy of the death figures published by the Delhi government is absolutely baseless,” he said.

The court further observed that there is no ground based on which these allegations are leveled, he said.

The Delhi High Court has noted that the ‘Death Audit Committee’ is a competent authority comprising of experts and the data published by the Delhi Government is free from any discrimination and free from any fabrication, he said, adding that it means that the data published by the Delhi government is correct and accurate and the Delhi high court has also upheld its sanctity.

"Delhi HC upholds the sanctity of figures of deaths published by AAP Govt. It concludes that there is no arbitrariness, discrimination or fabrication of data. It is shameful that the BJP chose to level baseless & motivated allegations against AAP even in this humanitarian crisis," Raghav tweeted.

Talking about the increasing number of cases in Delhi, Chadha said that the focus should be on the number of deaths due to Covid-19. "The Delhi Government is working 24X7 to reduce the death rate and succeeded in keeping the number of death under control and in comparison with other states,” he said.

Chadha further said that the Government is providing the best health care to the people and people are getting cured and going back home.

The national Capital is far ahead of other States in recovery rate with 273 people recovered till Saturday midnight total number of recovered patients reached 6540. The recovery rate of Covid-19 patients is now 48.75 per cent from previous 48.55 per cent. The national average of recovered patient is 41.29 per cent or nearly 7.5 per cent less that Delhi’s average.
