Sunday, 29 November 2020 | PNS | BHUBANESWAR

Oposition BJP disrupted the proceedings of the State Assembly for the fourth consecutive day on Saturday over the kidnapping and murder of five-year-old girl 'Pari' even as the Government issued a notification on constitution of an SIT to probe the incident.

After rejecting Government’s Crime Branch and court-monitored Special Investigation Team (SIT) probe, BJP members intensified their stir in the Well of the House.Opposition Chief Whip Mohan Majhi of BJP led the protest and who broke the Speaker’s mike besides throwing away the fibre shield fitted on the podium  while demanding resignation of Agriculture Minister Arun Kumar Sahoo, who has been accused of protecting Babuli Nayak, the4 main accused in the minor girl kidnapping and murder case.

While Congress members participated in the proceeding in the post-lunch session after the government laid the notification copy on the constitution of a court-monitored SIT, the BJP members intensified their stir demanding a CBI probe into the girl’s murder.

“There is no point to further disrupt the House after the government accepted our demand for a court monitored probe into the little girl’s kidnapping and murder,” Congress Legilsature Party Leader Narasingha Mishra said.

Mishra also said there is no point in demanding resignation of the minister following the government announcement of a High Court-monitored SIT probe. “If the investigation is being monitored by the High Court, how can the minister influence investigation,” Mishra said in a major relief for the Treasury Benches.
