BJP trying to take credit for Ram Mandir: Anugrah Narayan

Friday, 07 August 2020 | PNS | Dehradun

The in charge of Uttarakhand Congress Anugrah Narayan Singh has accused the BJP of trying to take credit for construction of Ram temple in Ayodhya.

He said that it was the Supreme Court (SC) which gave its decision in the favour of Ram temple and any government in power would have constructed the temple after the order of SC.

He was addressing the party leaders and workers of the Nainital district on Thursday. The programme was the first among a series of the district level virtual conferences in the State. Anugrah said that the Congress party in Uttarakhand acted like a responsible opposition during the Covid-19 pandemic.

It launched an App which helped many people in different parts of the country. He said that the party demanded a package for those who lost their jobs during the pandemic but the state government is paying no heed on the demand.

The former chief minister and general secretary of All India Congress Committee (AICC) Harish Rawat appreciated the initiative of the party to hold virtual conferences.

He suggested that the party should organise virtual rallies in the State. Rawat said that the BJP wants that the assembly election of 2022 in Uttarakhand is a ‘Modi Vs Congress’ affair but the Congress should make it a Trivendra Singh Rawat Vs Congress fight.

He said that the BJP is trying to divert attention from hunger, unemployment and price rise but the Congress party should concentrate on ensuring that the public is informed about the failures of the State Government. Addressing the conference, the Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) President Pritam Singh said that the BJP ruled central and State Governments have failed miserably in dealing with the Covid-19 pandemic.

He said that the tourism industry has collapsed in the state and the return of migrants has further accentuated the long line of unemployed in Uttarakhand.

Accusing the BJP Government for closing down the developmental projects and schemes started by the Congress Government, the PCC president said that the Congress party would prepare a roadmap for highlighting the failures of the state Government.Launching a scathing attack on the State Government, the Leader of Opposition (LoP) in the State assembly Indira Hridayesh said that the health service of the State is in shambles. She said that the State Government doesn't have the resources to pay for the salary of its employees.

On the salary deduction fiasco of the MLAs, the LoP claimed that it has occurred due to the non communication. She said that the State Government’s intention to bring an ordinance on the issue is absurd and laughable.

The co- in charge of Uttarakhand Congress Rajesh Dharmani, former national secretary Prakash Joshi also addressed the conference.
