nAfter Jharkhand and Kerala, Chhattisgarh's stranded labourers are also being flown home by chartered flight.
Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on Wednesday tweeted about the proposed arrival of 274 workers by flight in batches of 100 and 174 at the Swami Vivekananda Airport in Raipur.
Baghel said, “With the cooperation of former students of Law University of Bengaluru and Hyderabad, 100 and 174 stranded brothers and sisters will arrive by special planes at Raipur.
"We thank them for such an initiative and cooperation. We will make arrangements for the returning migrant workers to drop them at their native districts.”
Airport Director Rakesh Sahai said the flights would land on June 7. One of them will be a passenger charter. They will return to Bengaluru.
It is one-of-a-kind initiative taken by a group of law graduates from the National Law School (NLS), Bengaluru, after gathering funds via crowdfunding so far to help migrant labourers during the ongoing crisis arising from the Covid-19 induced lockdown.
