RAIPUR: The Chhattisgarh Assembly on Tuesday passed the Chhattisgarh Agricultural Produce Market (Amendment) Bill 2020 by voice vote with seven amendments. The two-day special session of the assembly was cut short by a day and declared adjourned sine die. Earlier, opposition leaders raised the need for such amendments raising Constitutional provisions but the treasury benches countered it with the same tempo pointing out traditions and parliamentary provisions. Later, after discussion on the amendments and reply by Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, the bill was passed by voice vote. Amid the commotion, Agriculture Minister Ravindra Choubey announced that registration process of farmers has been extended to further 10 days from October 31. The registration is for paddy procurement.
