Taking note of delay in release of pending payment of Post Matric scholarships to the Scheduled Caste students, Punjab Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh on Thursday said that he would soon take up the issue with the Prime Minister.
Reviewing the progress of the Post Matric Scholarship Scheme, he said he would request Prime Minister Narendra Modi to intervene for immediate release of Rs 780 crore under the centrally-sponsored scheme for the year 2017-18 without any further delay. He also directed the Principal Secretary, Social Justice, Empowerment and Minorities, to prepare a comprehensive case to be submitted to the Government of India in this regard at the earliest, and to work out the modalities for immediate release of requisite funds under the scheme.
