Amid speculations that Covid-19 cases may shoot up in the winter season, a leading expert has cautioned heart patients to take special care.
Renowned cardiologist from Raipur Dr Javed Ali Khan said in a press release that arteries shrink in cold and less blood is supplied to the heart. In such a situation, cold and corona may be fatal for the patients if proper care of heart is not taken.
He advised heart patients, especially older ones, to keep themselves safe during the cold season and take special measures to protect their hearts.
He said during the cold season, heart patients should avoid crowded places.
While celebrating festivals, it is necessary to maintain Covid protocols such as using masks, maintain distance of at least two feet and go for regular sanitization including those of hands.
Dr Khan said that in the winter season, flu like swine flu are more active. So, if heart patients have any flu like symptoms, they should immediately consult the doctor and take proper medicines. He cautioned against self-medication.
