The Covid-19 contagion is getting more fatal as it continues to spread in Uttarakhand. In the week ending September 26, a total of 88 deaths due to Covid-19 were reported by the state health department which is the highest number of deaths in a week ever since the contagion started in the state on March 15 this year. The first death due to the disease was reported in the state in the week seventh (April 26 to May 2). The 28th week (September 20 to 26) saw 6196 cases which is less than the previous two weeks. In the 27 week, 9749 cases were reported while in 26th week (September 6 to 12) 6375 cases were reported. The less number of cases in the week which has just ended could have contributed to less number of tests than the previous week. This week 73895 tests were conducted while in the previous week 84664 tests were conducted.
The founder of Social Development for Communities Foundation (SDCF), Anoop Nautiyal said that 10769 less tests were conducted in the week that has just ended as compared with the previous one. He said that fewer tests and more deaths is cause of concern.
