In order to create awareness among residents about Covid-19, Rajinder Nagar MLA Raghav Chadha on Saturday inaugurated an awareness camp in which residents of the areas were also given appropriate material such as cotton and polypropylene to make a sturdy mask.
The camp was organised at Budh Mahasabha, Budh Nagar, Inderpuri in collaboration with 'Doctors for You', an NGO that provides medical care and public health services.
During the two-hour long camp, Chadha interacted with residents of the area, patiently explaining the importance of being fully aware of the extent of COVID-19.
“All of us need to understand that the monster that is COVID-19 has not gone away. It will take some time till we get the right vaccine for all. But we can still avoid falling in a disease trap. I am glad that an institution of the repute of Doctors For You is teaching us all how to make proper masks, which as I always maintain, is an important line of defence," said Chadha.
The camp had a training session, where residents learnt how to make three-layer, washable, reusable masks. Appropriate material, such as cotton and polypropylene were also provided in order to make a sturdy mask. Not just the residents, but even MLA Chadha could be seen making a face mask.
Chadha said, “Only if we take care of ourselves, can we be in a position to take care of anyone else. I'm aware how a lot of people are now making masks at home, which is good, but it must be noted that only a mask made with the appropriate material can help.
The camp was interactive in nature, and is not limited to training residents alone. Doctors for You also intends to conduct three-hour training sessions for ASHA workers and Anganwadi workers via Presentations on what happens during home isolation, how to observe such isolation, making public announcements with respect to COVID-19, etcetera.
