In bid to improve living standards of tribal in Jharkhand Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Jharkhand organised the third edition of Tribal Development Meet over virtual platform on Thursday in association with TRIFED, United Nation Development Programme (UNDP) India and Citizens Foundation.
Speaking on the occasion as Chief Guest Union Minister for Tribal Affairs, Arjun Munda, said that this kind of meet can go a long way in ensuring growth, development and employment of the youth belonging to the backward sections of the society. “Our Government has given a special focus to the uplift of tribal population,” said Munda.
The Minister said that the Government of India is taking special initiatives towards overall growth and development of the tribal community so that it can increasingly take part in the India growth story. He also gave special emphasis on the role of skill development for the overall growth and development of the tribal and other backward communities.
Resident Representative, UNDP India, Shoko Noda, said that “For UNDP, inclusive development means ‘equal opportunities and choices for all’. I request our friends from the corporate sector to ensure that their existing CSR strategies are sensitive to the diverse needs of the tribal communities.”
Addressing the gathering Vice Chairman, CII Jharkhand State Council and Vice President (Corporate Services), Tata Steel Limited, Chanakya Chaudhary said that the platform of CII Jharkhand Tribal Development Meet is an effort to create a forum for knowledge sharing and awareness creation. It is also an initiative to bring Government, Industry and Civil Societies together to create partnerships for addressing pertinent issues of development. He said that the outcome of this meet should be creating more tribal and dalit entrepreneurs resulting in inclusive growth in the aspirational districts of Jharkhand.
Addressing the gathering, Chairman, CII Jharkhand State Council and Managing Director, Metaldyne Industries Limited, Sanjay Sabherwal, said that CII and the industry of Jharkhand is committed to the development of the tribal society. He said, “We need to focus on tribal development in Jharkhand, more now than ever before. Firm plans needed for the economic development and upliftment of our area rich in flora, fauna, mineral reserves and human capital.”
Secretary-cum-Chief Executive Officer, Citizens Foundation, Ganesh Reddy said that the focus of the CII Jharkhand Tribal Development Meet is not merely on dialogue exchange rather it is aimed at charting concerned areas for tribal development and proposals for future action, he added.
The Tribal Development Meet had particular focus on enhancing the quality of life of tribal communities and the meet deliberated on Tribal Workforce - Employment and Entrepreneurship — Schemes and Policies; Tribal Development - Role of Skill Development and Education; Showcasing Success Stories.
