City bus operators demand compensation from Government

Thursday, 21 May 2020 | PNS | Dehradun

The city buses federation of Dehradun has demanded that it should be allowed to charge double fare from the passengers as long as the norms of social distancing are enforced in the operation of buses. The president of the federation, Vijay Vardhan Dandariyal met the ARTO administration, Dwarka Prasad at his office on Wednesday and submitted a memorandum. In the memo, the federation demanded that the insurance of the vehicles should be extended for six more months and the insurance premium of only those passengers should be charged which are allowed by the department to board the buses to implement social distancing norms. It would be beneficial for the passengers also. Dandariyal said that if the insurance companies charge the premium on old system ( full seating capacity), then the federation would be forced to knock the doors of court for justice. He also said that the State Government should provide compensation to bus operators if they are forced to the operate buses at 50 percent of capacity.
