While accusing the Vikram, electric rickshaw and auto rickshaw drivers of operating their vehicles in an illegal manner in Dehradun, the city bus operators stated that they will approach the Uttarakhand High Court if the authorities do not take any action against the violations. According to the president of Dehradun Mahanagar City Bus Seva Mahasangh, Vijay Vardhan Dandriyal, the operators of three-wheeler vehicles have been operating their vehicles since several weeks charging passengers as per their own rates which are against the rules of the permits issued to them.
According to Dandriyal, the three-wheeler operators were charging more than twice of the regular fare but when the operation of city buses commenced in Dehradun with the increased fare, they started to charge less than buses to lure the passengers.
The administration has allowed increasing the bus fare during the current Covid-19 pandemic but due to unethical business of the three-wheeler vehicles, the city bus operators are facing heavy financial loss, added Dandriyal. "I have written to the divisional transport officer of the Regional Transport Office (RTO) concerning this matter.
I have stated clearly that if the police authorities and Transport Department will not take any action against this prohibited operation, the city bus drivers will surrender their buses and will be bound to approach the High Court for justice."
