City PS sealed, Collectorate premises sanitised

Bokaro City Police station was sealed after a Sub-Inspector tested COVID-19 positive. He had recently returned from Bihar. Samples of around 30 cops, including officers were collected and all of them were quarantined until their test reports arrive, informed Chandan Kumar Jha Superintendent of Police, Bokaro, on Monday.

In a video message the SP said that the building of City police station has been sanitized and later sealed. Temporarily, the police station has been shifted to another building; the old building would be functional when the situation will be normalized, he said.

Bokaro Steel Plant (BSL) management is also on high alert following an employee working at Slabbing Mills at a plant tested positive of coronavirus infection on 12 July. The said employee had done regular duty till last Saturday, sources said.

After being reported positive, both have been shifted to isolation ward at Bokaro General Hospital (BGH). The colleagues of the BSL employee were also asked to quarantine and conduct a corona investigation, said Mukesh Kumar, Deputy Commissioner Bokaro adding, “City police station has been closed as a precaution.”

Taking precautionary measures, the BSL management started sanitation work in the Slabbing Mill and another area inside the plant as well as in the township areas on a war-foot basis.

The plant management has issued a fresh advisory for its employees and officials; asked the employees whose residence is within a containment zone, must work from home.

In a bid to curtail the spread of coronavirus, all employees have been asked to maintain social distancing norms. Use of face masks is must for entering into office or plant premises, it stated in the advisory.    

Meanwhile, Collectorate premises were fully sanitized on Monday following the two staffs were tested COVID-19 positive. In order to sanitize, all the departments and offices of the Collectorate premises were sprayed with a fogging machine and hydrochloric and bleaching powder solution, informed DPRO.

The containment zones in Sector 4, Sector 3, Sector 11, 12 and Sector 9 while fully sanitizing and Section 144 has been imposed, he said.

The DC said, there is no such thing as panic, the situation is under control. The Health Department team is working to find the history of contact with the infected persons. If necessary, samples of other people will also be examined.

Kumar appealed, “Masks must be applied, follow social distance; wash your hands with soap at regular intervals. The best way is for all of you to be safe in your own homes.”
