In a bid to woo farmers ahead of by-polls in Madhya Pradesh, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan here announced that State’s farmers will now get Rs 10,000 per annum under Kisan Samman Nidhi.
Till now, the farmers get Rs 6000 in three instalments per annum under PM Samman Nidhi announced by Centre in the past. “Today I have decided to tag two more instalments of Rs 2,000 each in PM Kisan Samman Nidhi from CM Kisan Kalyan Yojana and farmers will now get Rs 10,000 per year,” CM Chouhan announced in a function on Tuesday.
The Congress party had found road back to power in the State in year 2018 in assembly polls with the help of farm loan waiver and is again underlining it’s farm loan endeavour accusing BJP of not letting it complete the scheme.
To add, as other States in MP, farmers are also outraged over three agri-sector bills that seek to modernise farm sector but opposition led by Congress is crying foul saying it will end MSP and leave farmers as labourers.Chouhan’s announcement is also seen as a ploy to placate farmers ahead of 27 by-polls in the state.
The Chouhan government has recently doled out crop insurance compensation among farmers in the State.
