Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat directed establishment of the School of Cinematic Studies in the Doon University and initiation of courses on film education. Speaking at a meeting on Friday, he said that a working group of experts including experienced persons of the film industry and professional education should be formed for this purpose.

The courses conducted by noted national and international level institutes should be studied to design the course for the school in Doon University. The syllabus should comprise various aspects of cinema and be according to the future demand of the industry, said the CM. Graduate degrees, logistic production certificate and diploma courses can also be conducted here. The CM also inaugurated a portal for granting online permission for film shooting on the occasion.Speaking in the meeting, Rawat said that there is no dearth of talent in Uttarakhand but work needs to be done on how to develop the talent of the youth. There are considerable employment opportunities in the film sector especially with picturesque Uttarakhand being an ideal shooting location. He said that it is important for youth to have a good environment in film industry.Information director general Meharban Singh Bisht gave a presentation related to state’s film policy on  occasion. Noted director Vishal Bharadwaj, higher education principal secretary Anand Bardhan, information secretary Dilip Jawalkar, Doon University vice chancellor Ajit Kumar Karnatak, industry director Sudhir Nautiyal and Uttarakhand film development council nodal officer KS Chauhan were also present in  meeting.
