CM failed to check spread of Covid-19, alleges Cong

Wednesday, 25 November 2020 | Staff Reporter | NEW DELHI

Expressing concern over the spiraling Covid-19 cases in the national Capital, Delhi Congress president Anil Kumar said Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has “failed” in checking the spread of the virus.

Accusing the AAP-led Delhi Government, he said that there was “zero fight” by the Delhi Government against the Covid-19 pandemic. “Delhi Congress has been demanding for the past three months to ramp up RT-PCR testing to one lakh per day but the government instead of tackling the issue at a war-footing, tried to give a communal twist to the Covid spread.

Kumar said that the Arvind Government was not only hiding the exact number of Covid cases but also deaths due to it as the number of Covid dead bodies reaching the crematoriums and burial grounds of Delhi are much more than what the Government data reveals. He said that one Covid death was happening every ten minutes, and out of the five daily Corona deaths across the country, one is in Delhi.

The Congress leader said that Delhi was recording 80 per cent less tests than required and people are paying a heavy price for such laxity. Kumar had suggested at an all-party meeting with CM recently, saying that the urgent need was to increase testing to two lakh per day to identify the virus-affected and assess the spread of the pandemic so that the Government can take effective steps to stem the Corona tide.

Kumar also pointed out Niti Ayog’s warning in which it said that Delhi will report 15,000 Corona cases per day by December. He demanded the resignation of Health Minister Jain for his utter “failure” to take prompt measures to check the Corona spread and accused the CM of ensconcing in his house in the first three months of the Corona pandemic crisis.
