Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that there was huge potential for the manufacturing of bulk drugs and medical equipment as there was huge spurt in demand for both following the coronavirus pandemic.
Yogi said the state would have to take urgent measures for tapping the potential and for this medical park had to be set up for the manufacture of bulk drugs and medical equipment.
A presentation on the manufacture of bulk drugs and medical equipment was made before the chief minister on Friday.
The chief minister said adequate human resources and infrastructural facilities were available in the state and both the commodities (drugs and medical equipment) were needed now in large quantities.
He said UP had a huge network of MSME units besides Central research laboratories like CDRI< NBRI, CIMAP and ITRC, and IITs at Kanpur Nagar and Varanasi and KGMU and other institutions of excellence existed in the state.
He said the setting up of medical parks would not only create fresh employment opportunities but also go a long way in strengthening the state’s economy.
