Wednesday, 15 July 2020 | PNS | PHULBANI

An 81-year-old man, Gopinath Dakua, of Kandhamal district has triumphed over Covid-19 after a 15-day ordeal.

Dakua, a native of Tala Indragada in Raikia block, was initially undergoing treatment at the Indragada Public Health Centre as he suffered from influenza. After he developed Covid-19symptoms, he was shifted to the nearby Temporary Medical Centre at Raikia on June 28 and finally to the Covid Hospital at Phulbani on July 4.

His condition improved gradually and he was discharged from the hospital on July 13.

“During my treatment, doctors, nurses and other staffs attended sincerely and took good care of me. Good quality food was also provided at the hospital,” said the octogenarian.

On Tuesday, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik talked to Dakua over phone and praised him for his strong willpower in fighting the virus. Patnaik said his victory would boost others’ courage to battle Covid.

Dakua thanked the CM for providing appropriate healthcare to him in the Covid Hospital.
