Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that our farmer toils hard day and night for his produce but middlemen take away the profit. Such a market system should be developed that farmers get the right price for their produce. There should not be much difference between wholesale and retail prices of vegetables. A report should be prepared regarding the support price of vegetables.

Singh, Additional Chief Secretary Rajesh Rajoura, Principal Secretary Horticulture and other concerned officers were present.

It was informed in the meeting that in states like Kerala etc., there is a system of declaring the minimum support price of vegetables. Farmers are being registered in Kerala for this.
The Chief Minister instructed that the officers of Animal Husbandry department and related departments should make surprise inspection of sabji mandis etc. to see at what price the vegetables are being purchased from the farmers and at what price it is being sold to the consumers. There should not be much difference between wholesale and retail prices.
