CM launches rozgar scheme for SCs

Sunday, 19 July 2020 | PNS | Lucknow

With the aim to empower the poor among the marginalised castes, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath launched the Navin Rozgar Chhatri Yojana under which Scheduled Caste youth were given financial support to start their own enterprises so that they could join the mainstream.

“Financial equality forms the basis of social equality. A society in which a few people are rich and a few poor cannot progress. A financial equilibrium is essential for the development of society because financial equality forms the basis of social equality,” the chief minister said while inaugurating the scheme here on Saturday.

He said this scheme was a manifestation of the government’s motto of Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas.

The chief minister transferred a sum of Rs 17.42 crore online to 3,484 beneficiaries across the state. The money would be used to set up grocery shops, dry cleaning shops, cyber café, tailoring shop, tent house and even for rearing cows.

The chief minister also interacted with youths from Rae Bareli, Gorakhpur, Basti, Meerut, Azamgarh and Moradabad.

“The world is facing COVID-19 pandemic. This has not only affected the economic scenario but has also put the social matrix under stress. Through this scheme the state government is making an attempt to make the people self-sufficient so that they may face the world on equal footing,” the chief minister said.

He said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had fulfilled the dreams of  Dr BR Ambedkar.

“The prime minister has announced  a special package for the poor, Dalits and marginalised section of society. Under the Garib Kalyan Ann Yojana, free food grain is being distributed among the poor. Thus, they are getting free ration twice a month,” Yogi said.

The chief minister also elaborated on the scheme the state government had launched. He talked about the sustenance allowance of Rs 1,000 given to the migrant workers. “Till date. 1.25 crore workers have either been given employment or provided help so that they can start their own enterprise,” he said.

Social Welfare Minister Ramapati Ram Shastri also spoke on this occasion.
