CM Yogi to meet saints in Ayodhya on June 18

Tuesday, 16 June 2020 | PNS | Lucknow

Aiming to review preparations for bhoomi pujan of proposed Ram temple at Ayodhya, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is likely to visit the temple town and hold parleys with saints on June 18.
“There is a suspense over the bhoomi pujan date. While July 2 has been tentatively fixed by the local saints, it could be postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic. Sadhus want Prime Minister Narendra Modi to attend the bhoomi pujan but no clearance has come from the Prime Minister’s Office so far,” said a senior functionary of Sri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra, the trust entrusted with temple construction.
The functionary said that there was a belief among local saints that if bhoomi pujan could not be held on July 2, it should be postponed till Navratri, as there was no auspicious date in between.
Meanwhile, one section of saints believes that as bhoomi pujan will be held in garb grih (sanctum sanctorum), construction work at remaining 67 acre of land should start.
“Works like construction of boundary and outer temples can start as it does not affect the construction of the main temple over sanctum sanctorum,” the office-bearer said.
The chief minister is likely to focus on this issue and review levelling work being done at the site.
Meanwhile, Sri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra general secretary, Champat Rai, recently went to Delhi and discussed the details of temple construction with Nripendra Mishra.
