Committee to study NEP constituted

The Uttarakhand Government has decided to constitute a high level committee which would study and analyse the new National Education Policy (NEP).

The committee would be headed by former Vice Chancellor (VC) of HNB Garhwal University, MSM Rawat and would include VCs of all the universities of State, director education, Vice President of higher education alleviation committee and a secretary level officer from the State administration.

The committee would submit its recommendation within 40 days. This decision was taken in a meeting of the senior officials of higher education, technical education and education department and Vice Chancellors of different universities at the State secretariat on Monday. The State minister for higher education Dhan Singh Rawat presided over the meeting in which a presentation of NEP was made.

In the meeting discussion on constitution of a state education commission, multi Faculty University, new course structure, abolition of annual examination system and implementation of credit based system were held.

The principal secretary higher education Anand Vardhan, V P higher education alleviation committee B S Bisht, Dipti Rawat, VC of Open University OPS Negi, VC Sridev Suman Uttarakhand university P P Dhyani, VC of Uttarakhand Technical University (UTU) N S Chaudhary, VC of Kumaon university N K Joshi, VC of Soban Singh Jeena University N S Bhandari, additional secretary D K Chaudhary, director higher education Kumkum Rautela and others attended the meeting.
