The Chhattisgarh BJP on Sunday accused the Congress government of using the police to attack its party workers and pledged to fight the "abuse of power".
The party was reacting to the assault on BJP Kisan Morcha General Secretary Bhushan Sahu’s family by police personnel in village Pirda in Mahasamund district.
BJP spokesman Sanjay Shrivastava stated that without any complaint, the police barged into Sahu's house and assaulted his minor son.
He said in a statement that the state government is using the police to crush the voices raised against its shortcomings.
The spokesman said this also occurred when the Congress formed a government after the birth of Chhattisgarh (2000-03) when BJP activists were assaulted and traumatized.
The BJP leader asked the government to refrain from indulging in "non-democratic" rule. The BJP will give a fitting reply to the police action, he added.
