Cong leaders booked for alleged violation of social distancing

Friday, 26 June 2020 | PNS | Dehradun

Not adhering to the social distancing norms during their protest against increasing prices of petrol and diesel proved costly to many Congress leaders including Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) chief Pritam Singh as the police registered cases against them.

Under the provisions of relevant sections of Indian Penal Code (IPC) and disaster management act, the police registered cases under 15 Congress leaders and 150 others for not taking permission for protest and not following social distancing norms during the protest. Apart from PCC president cases have been slapped on Vice President of state unit Surya Kant Dhasmana, former cabinet minister Mantri Prasad Naithani, Mahanagar President Lal Chand Sharma, Sanjay Kishore, Garima Dassauni, Tahir Ali and others. Reacting strongly on the issue, PCC President Pritam Singh said that the Congress workers would not get intimidated by this coercive step of the government.

He said that the government has registered cases because the Congress party is asking questions from it. Singh said that similar action should be initiated against the Ministers and BJP MLAs who are organising public programmes during lockdown.
