Cong Mins lash out at Badals over strangulation of federal structure by NDA Govt

Monday, 01 June 2020 | PNS | Chandigarh

Lashing out at the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) in general and the Badals in particular, Punjab Ministers and senior Congress leaders on Sunday said that Akali Dal’s so-called comrade in arms NDA Government is blatantly interfering in the rights of the states regarding borrowing.

“The Badal family is an equal partner in the Delhi Takht operation to dismantle the federal structure of the country for which the people of the State would never forgive them,” said Cabinet Ministers Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa, Gurpreet Singh Kangar and Bharat Bhushan Ashu, in a joint statement.

They said that Parkash Singh Badal, who had been harping in the name of federal structure all his life, is silent today on his son and daughter-in-law joining hands with enemies of federal structure.

“Did the Akali Dal president did not remember his own party's Sri Anandpur Sahib resolution? The Akali Dal, which calls itself the champion of the rights of the States, today is not only silent on the action of the Union Government for the sake of preserving the political office, but is also an equal partner in crime and completely hand in glove with the NDA Government,” they said.

Congress leaders said that the Central Government has “unnecessarily interfered” in the borrowing rights of the states beyond its limits. Instead of opposing this “draconian” decision, the Akali leaders, in order to cover up for the crime against the people of the nation, are hatching a conspiracy to mislead the masses by making baseless statements about electricity bills.

“Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh has already made it clear that as long as he is in power, farmers will continue to get free electricity,” averred the Congress leaders, while challenging senior Badal to break his silence on the issue and Sukhbir Badal to resign from the post of SAD president and recall his wife Harsimrat Badal from the Union Ministry.
