Alliance partner in Chief Minister Hemant Soren led Government, Jharkhand Pradesh Congress Committee (JPCC) will start its poll preparation for Bermo State Assembly Constituency from Sunday.
The bypoll was necessitated for the seat due to the iconic trade union leader and former minister in the State Government, Rajendra Prasad Singh. He represented the seat six times and became minister in erstwhile Bihar Government and also in Jharkhand Government. Singh died on May 25 at a hospital in Delhi due to infection in lungs.
Speaking on the issue JPCC Spokesperson, Lal Kishore Nath Shadeo said that JPCC Chief and Finance Minister of the State, Rameshwar Oraon along with other party officials will visit Bermo on Sunday to kick start the poll preparation for the seat. During the visit Oraon will meet the local party workers and officials to chalk out a strategy to ensure victory for the party candidate.
Shahdeo further said that JPCC Spokespersons Alok Kumar Dubey, Rajesh Gupta, Sunny Toppo, Amulya Niranjan Khalkho, Niranjan Paswan, JPCC Minority Cell Chief, Shakeel Akhtar Ansari will also accompany Oraon in the visit.
Bermo is considered as Congress bastion and Singh got elected six times from the seat since 1985. Only two times in 2004 and 2014 Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate, Yogeshwar Mahto defeated Singh. In the State Assembly election held in November, 2019 Singh defeated Mahto by more than 20 thousand votes.
It is almost certain that the Congress will field Anup Singh, son of Rajendra Singh, from the seat and a party insider also hinted in favour of him. On this issue Shahdeo said that it is tradition in Congress that the party high command announce the name of candidates so the leaders’ from the State can inform the name of the candidate.
Meanwhile JPCC Spokespersons Alok Kumar Dubey, Lal Kishore Nath Shahdeo and Rajesh Gupta said that during the global epidemic period, BJP leaders have been spreading the infection of confusion and lies across the Country. “Today, the economy of the entire Country has become vulnerable due to the politics of falsehood of BJP leaders. On the one hand, due to the nationwide lockdown, without making a concrete strategy, millions of people were unemployed, while the industries were also completely closed. Due to mental stress and depression, people are committing suicide. The Central Government led by BJP is responsible for this situation,” they added.
The Spokespersons said that on the one hand while the economy has completely collapsed, on the other hand, there is talk of giving loans to small-scale industries and small shopkeepers in the name of economic package. In this era when the industry-system is closed or affected by lockdown, how people will do business by taking loans, people demand that immediate direct help should be provided to them, they added.
