Congress attack over Covid-19 a ‘drama’: BJP

Friday, 29 May 2020 | Staff Reporter | RAIPUR

BJP leaders in Chhattisgarh on Thursday termed the ‘Speak up India’ campaign of the Congress a ‘drama’, saying the party was not directly linked to the fight against coronavirus in the country.

Leader of Opposition in the state assembly Dharamlal Kaushik said: “After going through all the live interactions of Congress leaders from New Delhi to states, one thing in common is lack of coordination within the party. The leaders speak on any issue of their choice. The whole exercise can be dubbed a ‘drama’.”

He said the Congress is nowhere in the picture in the war against the global epidemic. In some states it rules, they are unable to answer this.

Former Minister Rajesh Munat said: “Rahul Gandhi during the Lok Sabha election promised to give Rs 7,500 a month to farmers as NYAY scheme if the Congress forms a government. Has Congress even considered its implementation?

In the five states where the Congress has governments, no one has stopped the party from implementing it. They should do it as a model which can be replicated elsewhere, he said.

“When issues concern the Congress, they divert the subject," he added.

BJP leader Munat said: “Instead of giving lectures to others, Congress leaders should concentrate and work for the progress of state. The situation is such that even after 18 months they came to power, even the maintenance of the existing infrastructures is not being done.”
