Congress condemns youth leaders’ arrest

Thursday, 04 June 2020 | PNS | BALESWAR

The district Congress on Wednesday condemned the arrest of its youth workers in connection with the case of posters against Union Minister Pratap Sarangi.

Gyanendra Mohanty and Goutam Sahu were taken into custody after the BJP district unit lodged FIR against the unknown people in different police stations stating that there was an attempt to malign Srangi.

“The police arrested the duo on the basis that they posted anti-Sarangi remarks on social media. But without investigating as to who pasted the posters, police made the Congress youths scapegoats,” Congress leaders stated, adding that the Minister was in fact missing in Baleswar during the entire lockdown period and more so during Cyclone Amphan although he went Bhubaneswar.

“Have voters lost right to ask their elected representatives about their long absence,” asked State Youth Congress general secretary Tusharkanti Tapasi.
