The UP Congress on Friday demanded immediate relief for middle-income group families reeling under pandemic-induced financial problems for the past four months.
In Lucknow, Congress workers led by Congress city unit chief Mukesh Singh Chauhan and district chief, Ved Prakash Tripathi handed over a memorandum to the Governor through the district magistrate of Lucknow.
Later on Friday evening, UP Congress chief Ajay Kumar Lallu said in a statement that the global pandemic had adversely affected lakhs of middle-class families financially.
“They are constantly facing difficulties and in such a situation, the Yogi Adityanath government should immediately announce an economic relief package for these families. The fees of four months of all board students should be waived. At the same time, financial assistance should be given to all employees, including educational staff, of private schools.”
Lallu further said that the Yogi government should ensure that there was no alteration in the school textbooks nor school uniforms were changed frequently.
The Congress leader demanded an economic package for all advocates of the state, saying that due to closure of all courts, the income of lawyers had been adversely affected and the government should pay a monthly honorarium of Rs 10,000 to them.
Lallu said that those with annual income less than Rs 2 lakh who had neither benefited from PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana or other government pension schemes should also be helped.
