nThe supreme objective of the Constitution is to ensure the country's unity and integrity and individual dignity, and so everyone must take a pledge to be at all times ready to safeguard it, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel said on Thursday.
“As long as our Constitution is safe, our country's and every citizen’s future are also secure,” he told a webinar organized by the School Education Department to mark the Constitution Day.
Baghel said the country’s greatest leaders including Mahatma Gandhi, Jawahar Lal Nehru, Dr Rajendra Prasad, Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, Dr Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar and others ensured that the country will be run by its own Constitution.
He added in Chhattisgarh the initiative of reading the Preamble of the Constitution and discussing its important parts have been started in schools. This process is to inculcate a sense of faith and pride in the Constitution in the minds of the young.
In making the Constitution, every section of the society, every community, thinkers and legal experts across the country played a key role. The Constituent Assembly adopted it on November 26, 1949. That is why today is observed as Constitution Day.
He added that the Constitution was designed with liberality and exhaustiveness. It not only linked all the people involved in the Constitution-making process emotionally.
School Education minister Dr Premsai Singh Tekam said the Constitution is not just a book but the soul of the country and the country's biggest law.
