nA 49-year-old Covid-19 patient at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) died on Thursday allegedly after he leaped from the third floor of the building in the Chhattisgarh capital.
The incident took place in the C Block of the institute, said Inspector Bharat Lal Bareth, the Station House Officer of Amanka police station.
A resident of Janjgir-Champa district, the man was admitted to AIIMS on November 22 and his condition had since improved, Bareth said.
The patient allegedly jumped from the window of a bathroom and was rushed for emergency treatment but he succumbed to his injuries at around 12 pm, the officer said.
No suicide note has been recovered and a probe is on to ascertain the reason behind the extreme step. An accidental death report has been registered, said the officer.
In August, a 65-year-old Covid afflicted man committed suicide in AIIMS Raipur while another Covid-19 patient allegedly hanged himself inside a toilet at a Covid care centre in Janjgir-Champa district.
