nThe Covid-19 outbreak in Chhattisgarh is under control, Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on Tuesday told a meeting of Chief Ministers convened and chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Speaking via video conferencing from here, Baghel said daily 23,000 screening tests were being done in the state. There were no cases of Covid in rural areas earlier but later a few cases were reported.
But Mitanins, he underlined, have done commendable work to check the Covid infection.
At the meeting, measures taken for prevention of Covid infection in various states were reviewed. Preparation and an action plan for vaccination in the near future was also discussed at the meeting.
The Chief Minister told the meeting that the number of beds with oxygen facilities and ICU beds in Chhattisgarh has been increased. All medical colleges in the state have RTPCR facility. Four new labs have been established for testing.
Since October, the number of new cases has gradually declined. The number of cases has decreased by half but there is no reduction in the number of tests being done, he said.
He said that in July there were 4 percent positive cases in the state, 8 percent in August, 15 percent in September, 10.5 percent in October and 7 percent in November. Death rate was just 1 percent in October-November.
Baghel said that initially there were very few cases of corona in Chhattisgarh but as people started to arrive from other states, the number significantly rose. He added that oxygen plants would be set up in the medical colleges.
Health Minister T.S. Singh Deo, Home Minister Tamradhwaj Sahu, Chief Secretary R.P. Mandal, Director General of Police D.M.. Awasthi and Director Health Neeraj Bansod too were present with the Chief Minister in Raipur.
