Coronavirus toll climbs to 1,942 in Uttarakhand

The number of novel Coronavirus (Covid-19) patients in Uttarakhand jumped to 1942 with the state health department reporting 97 new patients of the disease on Tuesday.

One patient of the disease, a 56 year old female, expired at Sushila Tiwari hospital Haldwani on Monday which increased the death toll to 25 in the state.

On the day 27 patients were reported in Haridwar district while 18 patients surfaced in Dehradun district.

In Tehri 14 new patients were reported by the state health department. Similarly 10 and six patients were reported from Almora and Pauri districts respectively. Seven patients each were reported from Pithoragarh and Udham Singh Nagar districts while five patients surfaced in Uttarkashi district. The authorities also found two patients in Nainital district.

The health department discharged 27 patients of the disease on Tuesday which increased the count of recovered patients to 1216 in the state.

On the day 12 patients were discharged from Haridwar six patients each were discharged from Dehradun and Nainital districts. Two patients were discharged in Tehri while one was released from hospital in Almora district.

The additional secretary, state health department, Yugal Kishore Pant said that reports of 1222 samples were found negative for the disease on Tuesday. He added that reports of 4621 samples are still awaited by the department.  On Tuesday, a total of 1244 samples were collected for COVID -19 testing. 

The authorities have so far taken swab samples of 47870 suspected patients for COVID-19 test.  Out of the total samples taken, 4.61 per cent samples have been found positive for the disease.  The doubling rate of disease in the state now stands at 24.57 days  while the recovery percent in the state is now at 62.45 percent. 

 A total of 10409 persons are kept in institutional quarantine by the state health department. 

The state now has 680 active patients of the disease. Dehradun with 199 active cases is maintaining its position at top of the table of Covid-19 positive active patients .Haridwar district is at second position with 134 active cases. With 117 active patients Nainital district is at third position. Tehri district now has 56 active cases and is at fourth position in the state. Pauri district has 35 active cases while Udham Singh Nagar has 34 active cases.

Pithoragarh district now has 33 active cases of Covid-19 . Rudraprayag has 23 active cases and Uttarakashi has 16 active patients now.  Almora has 11 active cases while Chamoli and Bageshwar districts now have 10 and nine active cases. With three active cases Champawat is at the bottom of the table in the state.

 The state has declared 83 areas as containment zones to check the spread of infection. Haridwar district has 48 containment zones while Dehradun district has 21 containment zones.

The district administration has made ten containment zones in Tehri. Pauri and Udham Singh Nagar have two containment zones each.
