A hospital sweeper has been sent to jail on judicial remand after he allegedly molested a nine-year-old girl admitted in a Covid hospital in the Rawabhata locality of Raipur city, police said on Thursday.
“The girl was to be discharged on Thursday. While she had gone to brush her teeth around 9 am, the accused, Kanhaiyalal Nishad (45), molested her in the bathroom,” Raipur Superintendent of Police Ajay Yadav told The Pioneer over telephone.
The girl narrated her ordeal to her parents who informed the hospital authority and police, Yadav said. The police nabbed the accused and booked him under Section 354 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and POCSO Act.
A local court sent him to jail on judicial remand, the police officer said.
