Covid-19 death toll reaches 1,162 in State

The death toll from the novel Coronavirus (Covid-19) in Uttarakhand climbed to 1162 on Monday with the state health department reporting seven deaths from the disease. The department also reported 376 fresh cases of the disease on the day which further increased the tally of the disease to 71632 in the state. The authorities discharged 428 patients from different hospitals of the state after their complete recovery on Monday. A total of 65530 patients have so far recovered from the disease in the state. The recovery percentage from the disease is now at 91.48 while the sample positivity rate is 5.70 percent.

Five patients of the disease were reported dead at Sushila Tiwari government hospital on Monday. Similarly one patient each of Covid-19 was reported dead at the Mahant Indiresh hospital, Dehradun and HNB Base hospital Srinagar.

Out of the 428 patients discharged on Monday, 116 were from Pauri, 87 from Nainital, 49 from Dehradun and 34 from Tehri.

The provisional state capital Dehradun is continuing to reel under the onslaught of the virus. Here the health department reported 133 fresh cases of the disease on Monday. The department reported 49 cases of Covid-19 from Haridwar, 47 from Nainital, 26 from Pauri, 24 from Chamoli, 23 from Pithoragarh, 18 from Champawat, 12 each from Tehri, Udham Singh Nagar and Uttarkashi, 11 from Almora, five from Rudraprayag and four from Bageshwar on Monday.

Uttarakhand now has 4298 active patients of the disease. Dehradun district with 1333 active cases is at top of table while with 433 active cases Haridwar is now on second position. Pauri has 399, Nainital 377, Chamoli 277, Tehri 265, Pithoragarh 246, Udham Singh Nagar 225, Almora 178, Uttarkashi 156, Rudraprayag 146 and Bageshwar 139 active cases of the disease. With 124 active cases of Covid-19, Champawat is at the bottom of the table.
