Covid-19 on upswing again in U’khand

In a disturbing trend which follows a similar surge in the number of novel Coronavirus (Covid-19) cases in National Capital Region (NCR) and other states after the festival of Diwali, the Covid-19 curve in Uttarakhand is also on the upswing. To add to the woes of the health department and the general public the mortality from the disease is also increasing. The state health department reported the death of 11 patients of the disease on Tuesday after which the death toll from the disease mounted to 1173 on the day. The authorities reported 528 fresh cases of the disease on Tuesday after which the tally of the disease mounted to 72160. A total of 173 patients of the disease were discharged from different hospitals of the state after their complete recovery from the disease. A total of 65703 patients have so far recovered from the disease and the recovery percentage from Covid-19 is now at 91.05 percent. The sample positivity rate is at 5.69 percent.

Three patients of the disease each were reported dead at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Rishikesh and Mahant Indiresh hospital Dehradun on Tuesday. Similarly two patients each were reported dead at Sushila Tiwari government hospital, Haldwani and Government Doon Medical College (GDMC) hospital Dehradun on the day. One patient of the disease succumbed at district hospital, Tehri Garhwal on Tuesday. The provisional state capital Dehradun continues to be worst affected by the disease. On Tuesday, 192 patients were reported by the health department from here. The authorities reported 83 patients from Haridwar, 69 from Udham Singh Nagar, 49 from Pithoragarh, 37 from Nainital, 24 from Pauri Garhwal, 20 each from Almora and Champawat, 11 from Uttarkashi, seven from Bageshwar, six from Tehri and five each from Champawat and Rudraprayag on Tuesday.  Out of 173 recovered patients on Tuesday, 74 are from Dehradun. The state now has 4631 active patients of the disease. Dehradun district with 1443 active cases is maintaining its lead at top of table while with 498 active cases Haridwar is on second position. Pauri has 420, Nainital 404, Chamoli and Udham Singh Nagar 294 each, Pithoragarh 292, Tehri 235, , Almora 196, Uttarkashi 155, Rudraprayag 144 and Champawat 129 active cases of the disease. With 127 active cases of Covid-19, Bageshwar now is at the bottom of the table.
