Covid-19 tally jumps to 2,725 in U’khand

The number of novel Coronavirus (Covid-19) patients in Uttarakhand surged to 2725 on Friday with the state health department reporting 34 new cases of the disease on Friday. One patient of the disease died on the day which increased the death toll in the state to 37. On a positive development 64 patients of the disease were discharged on Friday from different hospitals of the state after their complete recovery from the disease. A total of 1822 patients have so far recovered from the disease in the state. The number of recovered patients is now more than double the number of active cases in the state.

On Friday the health department reported 14 new cases of Covid-19 from Nainital district while 13 patients were reported from Udham Singh Nagar district. In Dehradun four new patients were reported while two patients were found in Chamoli district. One new patient was in Champawat district.

A 45 year old male was brought dead at All India Institute of Medical Science (AIIMS) Rishikesh by police from a construction site in Rishikesh. His sample was taken before post mortem and it was found positive.

 On the day 27 patients were discharged from Nainital while 10 were discharged from Dehradun. Similarly eight and seven patients were discharged from Udham Singh Nagar and Almora districts respectively while six patients recovered from Covid-19 in Uttarkashi district. Three patients each were discharged from Bageshwar and Chamoli districts.

The additional secretary, state health department, Yugal Kishore Pant said that reports of 1718 samples were found negative for the disease on Friday. He added that reports of 3292 samples are still awaited by the department.  On the day, a total of 1293 samples were collected for COVID -19 testing.  The authorities have so far taken swab samples of 62500 suspected patients for COVID-19 test.  Out of the total samples taken, 4.80 percent samples have been found positive for the disease.  The doubling rate of disease in the state is now at 26.85 days while the recovery percent in the state is at 66.86 percent.  

The state now has 848 active patients of the disease. Dehradun with 173 cases is continuing to maintain its position at top of the table of Covid-19 positive active patients. Haridwar district is at second position with 127 active cases while with 119 active cases Nainital district is at third position.At fourth place is Udham Singh Nagar district with 109 active cases. Tehri district now has 86 active cases while Pauri has 75 active patients.  Almora now has 47 active cases while there are 26 active cases in Uttarkashi district. Chamoli and Rudraprayag now have 22 active patients, Bageshwar 20 and Pithoragarh 15 active cases. Champawat continues at the bottom of the table with seven active cases.

The administration has declared 105 areas as containment zones to check the spread of infection in the state. Haridwar district has 63 containment zones while Dehradun district has 28 containment zones. Tehri has 10 while Udham Singh Nagar district has three and Uttarkashi one containment zones.
