Covid-hit face stigma, treated as untouchables

Friday, 07 August 2020 | PNS | SUBARNAPUR

While the number of  Corona positive cases in Subarnapur district is on the rise, social lives of those infected are now in a jeopardy here due to the attitude of the people towards the infected ones.

In the district, 113 Corona cases have been identified and out of them 81 have recovered. No death took place in the district due to Corona so far.

The rise in the number of Corona positive cases is only due to the lack of awareness among the public. This is especially true in rural areas.

Those who returned to their own villages with great difficulty are treated like untouchables by their own people. The families who brought small children underwent great sufferings.

It is a misconception that a person who is infected will be the carrier of the virus forever and if anybody talks with them or touches them, he runs the risk of getting infected.
