A man from Bilaspur succumbed to Covid-19 at AIIMS Raipur on Saturday. Also, 23 fresh coronavirus cases were detected across Chhattisgarh even as 22 patients were discharged from different hospitals, Health Department officials said.
“A 34-year-old patient from Bilaspur was shifted to AIIMS on May 5 after being found Covid positive. He was HIV positive as well. Despite all efforts, his condition deteriorated and sadly he succumbed to his illness on Saturday at 11.30 am,” an AIIMS tweet said.
Earlier, a 55-year-old woman from Durg district tested positive for Covid-19 after her death at the AIIMS Raipur on Friday night, an official said.
This is the second Covid-19 death in the state. The deceased was a native of Charoda town and was referred to AIIMS from Ramkrishna Care Hospital here on Tuesday afternoon as she was suspected to have been infected by coronavirus, an AIIMS spokesman said.
However, she was declared dead on arrival at the institute and her swab test came out positive for the deadly infection, he said.
Meanwhile, 14 patients were detected from Baloda Bazar, 4 from Raipur, 3 from Korba and 1 each from Kanker and Surajpur.
Currently there are 660 active Covid cases in Chhattisgarh. So far, 923 have been detected positive in Chhattisgarh.
