nThe police should work in such a way that criminals should fear them while the common man must give them due respect, Chhattisgarh Home and Public Works Department Minister Tamradhwaj Sahu said on Wednesday.
Sahu was holding a review meeting of the newly constituted district Gaurela-Pendra-Marwahi police personnel at the office of the Collector.
An official statement said the Minister directed the police officials to remain alert, adding that crimes can be resolved if timely action by police is ensured.
This will further help to enforce respect among the people for police. The police should respect and be sympathetic towards the common man, he added.
Sahu added that now police have a key additional role to play during the Covid-19 pandemic. He said the government is making all efforts to increase the number of staff at police stations. He told the police to strictly enforce the traffic rules to reduce the number of road accidents.
Kota MLA Dr Renu Jogi was also present at the meeting.
