After Jaunpur and Azamgarh, now similar violence took place in Ghazipur district where Dalits were attacked by the members of a particular community over playing objectionable song.
The incident took place on late Wednesday evening. Senior officials have deployed jawans of Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC) to maintain peace and have launched a hunt for 21 persons against whom a case has been registered by the police.
Reports said that some objectionable song was played on a tractor carrying MGNREGA workers belonging to Dalit community and hailing from Gudsara locality of Gahmar in Ghazipur on Wednesday evening.
The situation took an ugly turn when someone informed about the song to tractor owner Saukat’s son Haider. Within hour, Haider along with his brothers Tanveer Ali, Mohammed Ali and 18 others, all armed with sticks and rods, attacked the Dalit labourers, injuring 13 of them.
The situation could be brought under control after District Magistrate Om Prakash Arya and Superintendent of Police of Ghazipur, Omprakash Singh, reached the spot with heavy police force. They shifted the injured to hospital where the condition of Zalim Ram, Bailester, and Sugreev was stated to be critical by the doctors.
Later a case was registered and seven teams were formed to nab the assailants who absconded before the police reached the spot.
