DC, Municipal Commissioner take stock of Swachchhta Pakhwara

Friday, 10 July 2020 | PNS | DALTONGANJ

On the 9th day of ‘Swachchhta Pakhwara’ the drive to lift every ounce of garbage and filth in the town Medininagar is going on in full swing with two DC Shantanu Kumar Agrahari and Municipal Commissioner Medininagar municipal corporation Dinesh Prasad with masks on face inspecting the sites of garbage.

On Thursday Agrahari and Prasad spent more than an hour on the bank of the river Koyal falling in the stretch between a temple and a gym with one school Jawahar NAV.

Agrahari said the ghats which are in dilapidated condition would be restrengthened.

Prasad said the boulders that we have with us would be used to strengthen the ghats and that would cost nothing to the administration.

About a dozen street lights on this stretch of the Koyal were found dysfunctional over the months.

Prasad said the man who is to maintain the street lighting plays false and on one pretext or the other does not do anything and has a readymade answer to every query of him as to why street light is not functional.

Taking a serious note of Prasad’s comment Agrahari got the electricity man before him on the spot and gave him a severe tongue lashing warning him to improve his work or face exit from here to some rural nagar parishad job.

The DC asked him that all 8 or 9 street lights should be functional by this evening itself.

A resident Eqbal Ansari was given a respite of one day to remove his heap of stone chips and sand from the bank side by the DC who was about to get him fined 2,000 rupees for so keeping building materials on the flank of the road.

The DC ordered this Ansari to further level the land after removing the heap of stone chips and sand.

However, a lower rung municipal corporation official wasted a  heap of stone chips kept for the reconstruction of a mosque at Nawa Toli.

Muslims of the area told this correspondent that had this official given us a day’s time we would have removed these stone chips which were for the mosque. This lower rung official is known for his excesses, said sources.

With a JCB machine these stone chips were sunk in the soil. At the public gym located on the bank DC vented his ire on the man for using low quality brick and asked him to replace it with a good quality one.

Prasad said we are going to charge 5 rupees per person for using this open gym per day while monthly subscription will be 125 rupees only with which we will pay the wages to one who will look after this gym.
