Delhi Congress workers on Tuesday staged dharnas at over 1,000 locations across the city to protest against the “failures” of both the AAP ruled Delhi Government and the Centre in tackling the Covid-19 pandemic with the death toll mounting to an alarming level.
Congress Delhi unit president Anil Kumar said that both the BJP and the Aam Aadmi Party governments wasted precious 84 days after the first lockdown when Covid cases were in single digits.
Accusing both the governments for wasting time and indulging in blame game politics, he said “Now Kejriwal was begging to the Modi Government to provide train bogies for lodging quarantine patients though Delhi could have easily addressed the Covid-19 bed shortage by throwing open the three new hospitals coming up in Ambedkar Nagar, Burari and Indira Gandhi Hospital at Dwaraka with a combined bed strength of over 2600,” he said.
Kumar reiterated his demand to ramp up Covid testing facilities, testing should be made the right of every citizen of Delhi and Rs 10,000 immediate relief should be given to each Covid patient and those living in the containment zones as people are in a financial stress due to the lockdown, as the lockdown was imposed without any planning and forethought by the Kejriwal Government.
