DGCA initiates procedure on complaint

Sunday, 22 November 2020 | Pioneer News Service

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has taken cognisance of a complaint received from Lucknow against an examiner who allegedly forged and fabricated flying test reports. Advocate Ashishek Mishra had written to the DGCA stating that captain Vikas Sharma is working with the Uttar Pradesh civil aviation directorate as a fixed wing pilot approved by the DGCA as an examiner on Hawker series aircraft.

The complainant has alleged that on October 15 last year, Sharma had issued a forged and fabricated certificate in favour of captain Michael Wilson stating that he had carried out a route check with Wilson from Lucknow to Varanasi and from Varanasi to Lucknow onboard the UP government Hawker aircraft.

As per the two route check reports signed by Sharma and countersigned by Wilson, the aircraft had landed at Varanasi from Lucknow and then returned to Lucknow. However, as per the UP government aircraft logbook, the scheduled flight was from Lucknow to Lucknow (local flight) wherein Wilson was the second in command and the nature of the flight was recorded as observation flight in the log book.

Further, Mishra stated that as per the Lucknow and Varanasi airport authority of India’s official records, the UP government Hawker aircraft had not landed in Varanasi on October 15 last year. The complainant had sought that an investigation be carried out by the DGCA for ensuring compliance of flight safety standards and necessary action should be taken against the persons responsible. According to sources in the DGCA, the complaint has been received and the procedure taken in such complaints has been initiated.
