The Coal capital of Jharkhand, Dhanbad registered first death due to COVID-19 on Monday. Until now, the total number of infected people in the district has risen to 196; though 61 are still active, informed a health official.
A 55-year-old woman died due to COVID-19 infection, she was a resident of Bhuli Azad Nagar, informed G Das Civil Surgeon Dhanbad.
On Monday, the body of the woman has been buried in the cemetery of Wasseypur bypass road under the supervision of District Administration and Health Department officials following the guidelines of Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), he said.
Following the shortness of breathing problem the woman was rushed to PMCH, where the doctors of the emergency ward declared her brought dead. After this, blood sample of the dead woman was taken and her COVID-19 test was done the woman found corona positive, said an official.

Dhanbad Press Club after two journalists tested COVID-19 positive and later admitted to COVID hospital.
Later, 93 journalists were tested and all of them sent for institutional quarantine at different special centres set up in the district.
According to the report, two journalists volunteered to get themselves tested on Saturday after they came in contact with a person who had tested positive on Friday.
