nJanata Congress Chhattisgarh (JCC) state President Amit Jogi and his wife Richa Jogi on Friday filed their nomination for the Marwahi (ST) Assembly by-election in Chhattisgarh while Congress' Dr Krishan Kumar Dhruw filed his final nomination, the Election Commission said.
Before filing the nomination, the Jogi family comprising Amit Jogi, his wife Richa Jogi and his mother and Kota MLA Dr Renu Jogi visited the graveyard of his father Ajit Jogi at Pendra to seek blessings.
"I am Ajit’s son Amit, not going to become Arjun’s son Abhimanyu, no matter how the opponents try to trap me. I am not going to be stuck, I will break all the traps (Chakravyuh) and win the Marwahi (ST) seat," Amit Jogi said.
Besides, Dr Dhruw, accompanied by Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel and Congress state President Mohan Markam, filed his final nomination papers for the by-poll.
At the same time, JCC leader Prashant Gupta on Friday joined the Congress.
As of Thursday, 16 people had taken nomination papers to contest the November 3 election. The votes will be counted on November 10.
