The Dial-112 office premises was shut for sanitisation for 48 hours from Saturday afternoon after six personnel were found to be coronavirus positive.
The Dial-112 staff contributed commendably to people in distress during lockdown and even played Samaritan for those in need of medicines or food.
ADG (Dial-112) Aseem Arun said on Saturday that a contractual staff was found to be coronavirus positive on Thursday. “When his contacts were traced, 30 other Dial-112 staff were identified and hence they were quarantined and tested for the viral infection. After their reports came on Saturday, five more were found to be coronavirus positive. These staff were being provided all medical assistance and help,” he said.
Arun claimed that as per protocol, it was decided to shut Dial-112 office for 48-hours starting Saturday afternoon for sanitising the premises and it would be opened only on Monday.
The ADG admitted that though Dial-112 services would be affected, thousands of people making distress calls would be handled by 140 officers of Dial-112 from home and Prayagraj office would also work.
Arun said that inputs could be also be passed on to district control room or uploaded on its social media account for redressal. He also said that 1073 emergency number could also be called to share problems.
The ADG appealed to people that there may be some delay in picking up calls but they should understand the situation and cooperate with the staff.
