Saturday, 11 July 2020 | Staff Reporter | Bhopal

Congress party in the State intensified its attack on BJP Governments in Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh, soon after gangster was gunned down in an encounter at Kanpur outskirts where he was being taken by UP police after being nabbed in Ujjian in Madhya Pradesh on Thursday.

Rajya Sabha MP Digvijay Singh who was on the offensive against Shivraj Government over the manner in which Dubey appeared in Ujjain’s Mahakal temple in Ujjain on Thursday, mounted another attack on Govt after the encounter of dreaded gangster on Friday. Singh had demanded judicial probe to ascertain whether it was a surrender or an arrest in Ujjain and sought judicial custody for the gangster so that all the secrets known to him could be unravelled.

“It happened what I was suspecting, now politicians and policemen in touch with Dubye won’t be exposed. Dubye’s 3-4 associates were killed in last few days and why all these encounters have similar patterns,” asked Singh.

His fellow partymen and Rajya Sabha MP Vivek Tankha claimed that Dubey deserved to die but by an order of the court only, not at the hands of police. Has UP Government lost faith in criminal justice system, asked Tankha, a senior lawyer of the country.

Meanwhile, former Law Minister PC Sharma on Friday reiterated his conspiracy theory in recovery of Dubey from Ujjain and later in his encounter. “It seems a planned encounter,” suspected Sharma. Dubey had secrets of many politicians and could have exposed them, he adding asking why he wasn’t produced in a court before being sent to UP.

This case should be probed by the CBI, demanded Sharma. He also questioned why TI and other policemen of Mahakal thana, which covers Mahakal temple, were removed on Wednesday.

“The one who was nabbed by a security guard, was running away snatching arms of UP STF jawans,” tweeted MP Congress questioning the veracity of the encounter.

After six days of hiding, Dubey, accused of killing eight policemen in Kanpur recently, had appeared in Ujjain’s Mahakal temple on Thursday and was nabbed by MP police which later handed him over to UP STF by evening.

However, the police did not produce him in the court before he was sent with the UP police and MP police had escorted their colleagues from neighbouring state till UP border citing safety reasons.

Senior BJP leader Uma Bharti in similar tune asking as how Dubey reached Ujjain, how much time he spent at Mahakal temple and he was a known face on TV channels so why so much time was consumed in his identification. In another tweet, Bharti said she would speak to CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Home Minister Narottam Mishra.

However, lord Mahakal punished the murderer of honest police officer Devendra Mishra, she added.

Home Minister Narottam Mishra replying to Congress leaders’ attacks said there was no need for a CBI probe adding the law has done work. Those who were asking why he was nabbed alive are now questioning why he was killed, he added. Our police had handed Dubye safely to UP police at the border. He has nothing to do and has been sitting idle at home, said Mishra on Digvijay Singh allegations.
