As a part of its measures to minimise the potential risk of dengue disease in the Dehradun district this year, the district administration has been imposing fine on people whose premises assist the breeding of mosquitoes. Praising the work of Asha workers, Dehradun DM Ashish Kumar Shrivastava said that the surveillance of dengue in the district is being done by Asha workers and so far they have found larvae of Aedes aegypti mosquito which causes dengue in over 3,000 homes while doing the surveillance of over one lakh houses in Dehradun.
Shrivastava informed that the district administration has imposed penalties on the guilty parties collecting over Rs one lakh in fine.
He stated that the conditions regarding dengue in the district are better than the previous year but still, the hospitals are ready for any situation. Meanwhile, the DM also said that the people of Vikasnagar had faced some difficulties last year as they had to come to Dehradun city for dengue tests. So, the administration has provided this facility from Friday besides setting up a treatment ward for dengue patients in Vikasnagar for easy and accessible treatment.
