Dongargarh, the holy town of Bamleshwari Devi in Rajnandgaon district of Chhattisgarh, has been selected in the central government’s ‘PRASAD’ (Pilgrimage Rejuvenation and Spiritual Augmentation Drive).
PRASAD is a central government scheme that focuses on identifying and developing pilgrim sites across the country to enrich the religious tourism experience.
A fund of Rs 43.33 crore was released by the central government for beautification works at Dongargarh, a press release said on Thursday.
Minister Tamradhwaj Sahu said this step will immensely boost the tourism prospects of the state.
Now, tourist facilities on the sides of the steps leading to the temple at the peak of the hill will be improved. Parking, pond beautification and an activity centre will be developed, a press release said.
The main attraction will be the ‘Shri Yantra’ shaped activity centre, it said.
